Rita Riddick is the present Executive Director of 249G Acres, bringing to her role over ten years of experience in social services. In 2020, while serving as the Chief Operating Officer of Motorcycle Riders for Homeless Parolees, she established 249G Acres.
Ms. Riddick's tenure as Chief Operating Officer and Secretary of the Board of Motorcycle Riders for Homeless Parolees has seen the organization prosper under her guidance. She has implemented several programs that benefit impoverished individuals and families living in SPA 6 of Los Angeles, California. These programs include low-income housing, a family crisis housing program, and the Homeless Roadmap initiative, which provides assistance to individuals living under freeway bypass tents, those aged 65 or older, and people at risk of contracting COVID-19. Additionally, under her stewardship, the organization has partnered with School on Wheels, the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank, and other community-based organizations.
Ms. Riddick is of the opinion that to end homelessness; it is essential to prevent people from becoming homeless in the first place. This belief is the cornerstone of 249G Acres.
The nomenclature of the organization under consideration finds its roots in the address of the maternal grandparents' dwelling in Newsoms, Virginia. It was at this location that the founder recollects spending quality time with her siblings, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Being a child of a US Navy Sailor, her upbringing was different and at times, daunting, as she found it challenging to identify a place that she could call home. However, congregating with her family at her grandparents' house provided her with a sense of comfort and belonging. The term Acres, incorporated in the name of the organization, is emblematic of its founder's ambition to establish safe communities across the United States that provide essential services to marginalized individuals, enabling them to prosper and circumvent homelessness.
Ms. Riddick completed her undergraduate degree in business management, and her graduate education is in psychology. She has a proven track record of leadership and success in her career and is committed to ensuring that everyone has access to a safe place to live. Her professional experience includes being an assistant supervisor for Quest Diagnostic Laboratory, a Family Service Specialist for Nevada Division of Welfare, and a Senior Operator Trainer for United Healthcare.
